IT’S A FAMILY THING.
We’re a family-run traditionally French ski school with a twist. See here’s the thing: we love our international clients. Way back in the 90s, while the rest of you were singing to the Spice Girls and rocking the double denim, we set to work on building a ski school that caters for everyone. Young and old, big and small; French and international. 30 years later and we’ve lost the denim, but kept the blue. With over 40 staff and 300 ski instructors spread across 14 resorts in the French Alps, we’re a ski school big enough to trust, yet small enough to care.
OXYGÈNE SKI & SNOWBOARD SCHOOL
The Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School story begins in a quiet mountain village, deep within the French Alps. From the outside, the de Monvallier family appeared just like the rest. But there was something unique about them. A hunger and drive that lay deep within their veins. They didn’t know it then, but that passion, that insurmountable thirst for adventure, would change their lives and touch the hearts of those around them for many, many years to come.
1991
Two brothers, Bertrand and Pierre de Monvallier set to work on creating a ski school business with a true family atmosphere.
1992
Oxygene Ski & Snowboard School is born. Instructors join and start teaching on the slopes of La Plagne.
1993
We set up shop, offering ski equipment hire and fitting services from our ski-booty-licious Oxygene boutique.
1997
Growing in size, confidence and expertise, we embark on conquering Val d’Isere’s slopes.
1998
We add telemark, cross-country, freestyle and freeride to our ski school curriculum.
2000
We answer the need for adaptive skiing services and introduce it into our teaching programme.
2004
Moving into the Three Valleys, Oxygene fever spreads to Courchevel.
2006
We open up our ski hire shop in Val d’Isere.
2011
Teaming up with snowboard beasts, Burton, we create France’s first ever Burton Experience Centre in La Plagne.
2012
A third Monvallier brother and ski-entrepreneur, Julien, takes the Oxygene brand and ran with it all the way to Belle Plagne. A new branch opens.
Our ski shop starts coming to you. Our popular Chalet Fitting Service begins in Val d’Isere.
2016
Oxygene meets 3 Valleys’ ski school favourites, Magic in Motion, and welcomes them to the family. We spread our knowledge, expertise, ski-love and laughter into Courchevel, Meribel, La Tania and Val Thorens.
Off the success of our hit Chalet Fitting Service in Val d’Isere, we move into the streets of La Plagne to deliver exceptional ski equipment and fitting straight to your doors.
2017
Two become one as Magic becomes Oxygene and together we continue to breathe life into 8 ski resorts in the Tarentaise Valley.
We add Les Menuires into the mix too for good measure.
2018
A foray into the Haute-Savoie results in a new ski school join the group. Oxygene Megeve becomes the new kid on the block.
2019
Strengthening the offer in the Haute-Savoie, the locally renowned ski school Starski in Grand Bornand couples up with us.
At the same time, a much-loved instructor from La Plagne opens a satellite school in her home in the Southern Alps, the Ubaye Valley near Barcelonnette.
2021
Expanding our presence across the Espace Killy, we open a café and ski & snowboard school in Tignes with Béa & Federico, two of our instructors from Val d’Isère. The chalet-fitting service from Val d’Isère extends its offering to Tignes.
Another two instructors (also from our Val d’Isere team) decide to branch out in their home resort of Serre Chevalier. Charlotte & Adrien join forces with Oxygene to open a school in Monetier-les-Bains.

2022
Kevin and Thomas, monitors for years, have decided to join Oxygene and open their school in La Rosiere.
